Introduction: the country and artist of the week
We will start with 3-4 hand-eye coordination exercises such as:
Drawing/painting an object with closed eyes in less and less time, an object without looking at it, in a single line, creating an auto portrait similar to a vegetable/animal from the country or artist, creating lines/spots with a type of tool, etc.
Much like our “models”, we will be using things linked to the country and artist (ex.: dishes from the country, animals, vegetables, simple objects, monuments, elements from the artist’s works, cats, dogs, birds, etc.)
Creating an abstract or figurative composition inspired by the week’s artist (painting, drawing, collage). We can start with characters, landscapes, or objects of the country/artist with which we worked during the exercises or imaginary things. We will inspire ourselves from the artist’s style, using their colors, shapes, visual elements, lines, techniques, etc. Going from reality to an imaginary world- and it is our participants’ decision on where to go!
To be noted: from time to time, our artist can be a comic creator rather than a painter/illustrator. In this case, we may adjust the program, and instead of compositions, will be creating comics/graphic stories inspired by the artist, their characters, the country, or even an alternative version of the comic...
